The continuous search for improvement of functional results, especially of early incontinence, has produced new enucleation techniques which, together with new energy sources, have contributed to making AEEP the gold standard of minimally invasive treatment of prostatic hypertrophy.

Furthermore, it has been seen that the excellent short and long-term results of AEEP depend more on the technique, training and experience of the surgeon than on the energy used. Despite this evolution, the AEEP technique requires a considerable learning curve, during which the results can be suboptimal. This has also been one of the main reasons why the technique, introduced 2 decades ago, has not been universally adopted. It has been shown that the learning curve is reduced, and the results improve if a precise theoretical-practical training framework is followed.

This Enucleation Workshop is the basis of this framework. It is structured in two days. The first day aims to illustrate all the fundamental theoretical elements of enucleation: the indications, the description and differences of the techniques, the possible complications and ways to avoid them, the energy sources. The second day is dedicated to surgery and takes place in the Operating Room where AEEP interventions are closely followed using the hybrid Thulium laser and bipolar energy.

In this iterative way it is possible to approach the world of AEEP and realize that by knowing the theoretical bases and principles of the technique it is possible to plan and begin a structured, effective and rapid learning path of one of the most fascinating and effective interventions in modern urology.
